Travel is to the travel enthusiast as dressing is to the fashionable as food is to the foodie. Reaching destinations of interest across geographical distances is a personally satisfying experience. The advent of travel brings forth a rush and excitement in anticipation of something new and what lies ahead.

Travel is an inspiration in both business and personal life.It’s the universal teacher, which throws experiences at us that enriches our lives, each time we take that outbound. The sights and sounds of breath-taking landscapes, cultures and languages, climate, food and design sensibilities are memoirs for years to come.

Passion to discover new places and covering the miles require planning. A traveller must in particular, look into airline tickets,visa papers, travel insurance, currency, hotel bookings and weather conditions.Observations, however small, will mitigate hurdles that might arise out of the blue. Trips planned well in advance prepares for a hassle free journey.

Long hours in flights, roadways or railroad can be exhausting. Comfort dressing makes for effortless travel. Travel pants and fitted sweatpants are trendy and comfortable for travel. Sweatshirts will be handy, as airplanes tend to get nippy inside. A quick spritz with a little cologne at journey's end helps to freshen up.

Be it the beaches, the wildlife or business travel, choose clothing that is both comfortable and stylish.

Business meetings demand a dress code. Carry lightly woven clothes that pack well. Do invest on some anti-wrinkle wears specifically for travel. Good grooming is necessary while meeting a client. Mints are a solution for fresh breath. A formal pair of shoes and tie is a must. Always pack an extra outfit for surprise occasions, like dinner at the boss’s house.

For Leisure travel, neutral clothes with a bit of colour accessorizing will give that stylish bling. Take along a few pairs of light fitted shirts or t-shirts. Jeans, Chinos and shorts are the ones you must pack in your suitcase. Typically ‘mix n match’ your clothes keeping in mind the number of travel days. Dressing has seen its peak of creativity in the campus.Sometime quirky, sometime plain simple, everything they wear is nothing less than a style and fashion statement! Colleges have been the timeless, universal platforms where generations of students have seen self -declared designers walk the corridors of knowledge. Here clothes speak of attitude. Talented teenagers tirelessly use their thinking caps to showcase a sense of dressing that make heads turn.

However, there are basic dressing guidelines to consider while building a wardrobe for college life. The challenge lies in choosing the bare minimum basics for a start, keeping in mind the storage space available.Individual clothing needs and fashion sense might differ, but once part of the campus inner circle, idea of college attire soon changes. Shopping becomes an impulsive act and the number of t-shirts and accessories add up for various events and clubs. The wardrobe definitely expands.

 

Men’s line of clothes for college must include denim Jeans,t-shirts, trousers and button-down with tie (for special occasions). Other basics like jackets, sweaters, gym wear, pyjamas, bathrobe and a swimsuit will be required regularly. Loafers, boat shoes, sneakers are choices depending on the weather. Flip- flops are a constant favourite.

Cool Summer Dressing!

104°F by day and 96°F by night!  That’s Indian summer! It’s scorching and is unbearable at times. All Indian schools close for summer vacation in order to beat the heat and the neighbourhood swimming pools get busy with children loving a splash. There is no walking the thin lines where clothing is concerned this season.  It’s got to be the bare minimum comfort wear in cool colours. 

This is the time when one needs to use up SPF creams and suntan lotions.  This is the time for sunglasses and sun hats. Summer is the time to grab those fruity cold shakes& soups, cold coffees and the traditional Indian drink, ‘Thandai’. This is the time to have multiple baths, choose the perfect deo & after shave and find lighter shades of clothing. This is the time to get to higher altitudes and feel the cool mountain air.

In all sensibilities our closets must be replaced with breezy, lightweight whites, tans, Khakis and aqua that are comfortable to wear.The world famous Madras checked shirt is a great pick for this season. What you wear is what you feel and the lighter the colour shades, the better. As events unfold on hot summer days, go on and bring out those whites, off –whites,pastel coloured single weaves and knits.

The cut and fit can be a personal choice. As temperatures rise, it will be important to encourage air circulation with slightly loose garments in single weave since perspiring degrees can get high. Make an effort to choose natural fibres. Cotton would be ideal to wave off heat. Single woven cotton has been ever-trusted, time- tested for summer months. I call it the ‘breathing material’. It’s durable, less expensive, and is available in vibrant colours. 

  

Men’s corporate wear is universal. Hot weather corporate dressing is absolutely acceptable with half an inch loose fit short or rolled up sleeves shirt being paired up with a lightweight neatly fitted formal trouser. A good tie and a clean dial watch to accessorise, give the needed look that completes the official attire for summer. 

 

Camel shorts with a crew –neck Tee worn with a pair of boat shoes is elegant for busy summer days. Summer time calls for light and clean dressing that spell understatement and constant freshness. Extensively washed light weight Jeans, Chinos and Shorts, are good summer wears.

Shorts can be tailored about 2-3 inches above the knee and are mostly worn with tees and sandals in the hot weather. But do remember that shorts are not acceptable for all occasions and may be kept aside for week-ends and casual evenings. For a sophisticated dress –up, shorts can be worn with tucked-in Polo shirts and belt. Keep your toe nails neatly trimmed if wearing sandals. Lightweight Canvas sneakers or boat shoes are good for a stylish appeal.

A bottle of water, facial tissues and a change of clothes for a quick freshen –up will be handy on a summer day.
